Be Bold!
Story
Initially this rug was created for a gallery, this bold design was inspired by an antique work of La Ran from China’s southwestern ethnic minority culture. The local ‘human creation story’ is called the ‘butterfly mother’ and believes that human life was created by the butterfly who originated from the clouds and this design depicts elements of those beliefs. Unlike the Han Chinese mainstream culture, whose traditions are under threat due to rapid social development and change, many minority cultures have held onto their traditions and even today celebrate their beliefs as that have done for centuries.The original design, although abstract, did have explicit sexualized elements that we reworked but if you examine it closely you may still see the original concept!
