THE STORY OF HANRAD

We are a boutique company that focusses on high quality and unique products that are carefully nurtured throughout the entire design and manufacturing process. We are passionate about what we do and the entire team is committed to achieving the highest standards in everything through every step of the process.

It has been and remains a wonderful and exciting journey developing HANRAD since its inception in 2006.

The concept of HANRAD started with a love of handcrafted textiles and art and finding a way to design and manufacture exclusive interior design products that incorporate the amazing talents of the highly skilled artisans and artists we continue to meet through our travels.

In 2006 we started to assemble a collection of hand embroidered antique and vintage textiles we found on our trips around the more remote areas of China. Recognising that the skills of these craftspeople was fast disappearing we decided to develop a collection of textiles that would not only incorporate these traditional skills but also be relevant for today’s interiors. We took elements from the traditional cultural motifs and iconography and developed these into a collection of cushions totally handmade by local artisans, using the highest quality materials. HANRAD Collectibles was the result, promoting both antique and vintage textiles alongside new products ethically sourced and locally handcrafted.

The development of HANRAD BESPOKE RUGS came about through our involvement in Interior Design projects and the desire to create unique and luxurious interior design solutions. What better way is there to create a truly exclusive interior than through incorporating into the design a beautifully handcrafted rug, using unique designs and custom colours to achieve something exceptional and truly exclusive?

Our love of art is the inspiration for many of our custom rug designs. As we identify contemporary artworks that we believe will translate into wonderful handmade rugs the collections continue to grow. Collaborating with the artist we create exceptional rugs that not only replicate the design but endeavor to capture the essence of the original art. We are not limited by the constraints of limited colour use or techniques as we strive to innovate and develop ways to fully embrace the challenges of creating exclusive bespoke rugs.

All of our rugs are truly bespoke. We make each rug specifically for an individual client in any design, colour, size and material that best suit their needs. Commissions for exclusive designs are welcomed and we love working with clients who may want an exclusive one off design for their home.

As the saying goes – A picture is worth a thousand words – so have a look at our Showcases section to see what we have been up to since 2006.
